This painting cost me a lot of effort. At the very beginning I wanted to make transparent background, but after many hours of work on details it turned out that the light-colored flowers were almost invisible against it. I was tired I had a strong desire to throw it away. I was like, “Okay, I’ll try to darken the background once more and if the painting stays awful I’ll just forget about it.”
Happily, it worked out. The blue and turquoise go well with light pink and cornflower blue (or whatever color it is). It’s great because I didn’t plan it.
The painting had been lying on my desk for a long time and it was hard to make myself to finish it. The background never seemed dark enough and every new wash of paint might ruin the previous one.
I like the picture, but every time I look at it in my mind’s eye there appear all those troubles I came across painting it.
